This year’s Advent calendar is devoted to ‘celebrating the greatest gift this Christmas’ over the four-week period of Advent, running from the first Sunday of Advent (Sunday 2 December) until Christmas Eve (Monday 24 December).

Each day during the period, a new window will be available to open with a themed prayer, a video or a story.

Sunday 2nd December
10.45 a.m.  Morning Worship – Communion
 2.00 p.m.   Avonbridge Care Home – monthly service at the home
 6.30 p.m    Evening Communion Service  Mary & Eliot Soutter will be on duty

Elders – The FWO envelopes are available for collection and distribution.
Life and Work and Centre Magazine – both publications are available for distribution.

Monday 3rd December
7.30 p.m. Guild. Our speaker this week is Shona Scott from The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. All are welcome.

Tuesday 4th December
1.30 p.m. Friendly Hour – Festive Concert. All are welcome

Wednesday 5th December
1.30 p.m. – 2.30 p.m. Hamilton Guilds Together Carol Service in the Church

Thursday 6th December
10.30 a.m. Bible Study Group in the Youth Room.  This group meets weekly.  Please come along and join us.
12.15 p.m. Midweek Service in the Church Sanctuary. The services last 15-30 minutes, everyone is welcome to come along.

Saturday 8th December
The Passion Play team are bringing the nativity to life in their own way this year, with a short nativity set in an art gallery with a difference.

The team perform as part of the reindeer parade on 8th December. Santa arrives around 12.30 at the bottom cross. Christmas on Canvas will take place around 1.30 p.m. at the top cross. If you know some  families who might like to see the real Christmas story alongside Santa’s appearance, why not invite them along

 

Sunday 9th December
10.45 a.m.  Gift Service – we are again supporting the Hamilton Advertiser Christmas Toy Appeal.
1.00 p.m   Sunday Blast Pantomime Trip
6.30 p.m   Evening Service Hughina Naylor & Gordon Rankin will welcome you.
7.30 p.m.  Youth Group

Upcoming Events
The Greatest Show on Earth
  Joanne is looking for any volunteers interested in doing a bit of acting during our worship event on Christmas Eve at 6.30 p.m.  There would be no lines to learn, just costume and acting a part.  Please let her know as soon as possible if you would like to help in this way, or with lighting or props.

Sunday Blast Pantomime Trip: Sunday 9th December. Today is the last day for booking your place. The availability of pantomime tickets is limited to 53. As such priority will be given to children, and the parents of young children who attend St John’s Sunday Blast. The names of children who will be going, along with payment and permission slip, should be given to Karen Noble, Marielle Dodds or Claire Thom by the Sunday 25th November. 

Tuesday 27th November
 1.30 p.m. Friendly Hour – Our speaker this week is Norman Liddell on Malawi. All are welcome
 7.30 p.m. SALT meets in the Millennium Room

Thursday 29th November

10.00 a.m.  Guild – Coffee Morning 

7.30 p.m. Heart & Soul Swing Band No tickets are required to attend the concert. However, to assist with catering purposes, if you are coming to the concert could you take a ticket (available in the forum) for each person that is coming.
