I was born and brought up in Cobham, Surrey, England.
As a teenager, I was a Crusader and also a worshiped in two Churches at home in Surrey. I was a bell ringer and chorister in my own Parish of Stoke d’Abernon which has a Norman church and was a member of the Youth Fellowship in the neighbouring Parish of Cobham. Although I was brought up in The Church of England I changed to the Church of Scotland when I moved to Hamilton
I used to work with British Waterways as a Civil and Canal Engineer, ending up as a Safety Advisor but retired in 2004 after 30 years service.
I am married to Lois and we have two children, Rhea who lives and works in Germany and Daniel who lives with us at Motherwell.
I took over the position of Session Clerk from George Baird when I retired. As Session Clerk I am required to ensure that all matters laid down by the General Assembly for the proper conduct of the Kirk Session are carried out and properly recorded. Also to carry out any duties required by and for the Kirk Session and to work closely with Mr. Kent our Minister in the administration and overall running of the church.
As far as hobbies are concerned I have a varied number of interests ranging from collecting stamps and coins, through photography and railway modelling to enjoying our garden. I also have interests in “Hamilton Friends of Shopmobility” and “The Seagull Trust” So along with my Church interests I am now busier than before I retired.
Write to me! I'd be glad to hear from you.
