St. John’s Saturday Night Club
2008
Hi Folks
Saturday Night Club is back... hopefully bigger and better. The Saturday Night Club is for the young people of St.John’s Church and their friends who are in Primary 6 and above. It meets in the Centre on selected Saturday nights between 7pm and 8.30pm. Let’s look at the programme up to Christmas.
20 September Pizza Night Everyone will be all together at the start and for Pizza in the Forum Cafe. Sit at a table beside your friends. Games at the end of the evening will be split into groups. If you are in P6-7 there is the MEGAMIX before the SNC. It is between 5 and 7pm and is a fun event for the churches in the area. You will get fed at it too. Why not make it a big night out and go to both.
4 October Salsa Night Absolute Salsa dance instructors will lead the whole group. If you have two left feet then bring them both and enjoy your night.
25 October Your Choice You can choose what activity you want to participate in, sport, art or music.
8 November Museum Night Everyone meets at the Hamilton Low Parks Museum, it is being opened especially for us. The SNC will split into groups and you will go around with your friends.
22 November DVD Night Why don’t you give us some ideas for suitable DVD’s. They must only last 90minutes at most!
6 December Pantomime Night We all will visit the Hamilton Youth Theatre Pantomime. If you are interested in going please contact Tom or Fiona Anderson and make your payment of £5.00 per ticket. The tickets have to be ordered now so you must make up your mind and pay your money now. We will not buy extra tickets.
We look forward to seeing you at the Pizza Night if you can make it.

Saturday 20 September
Pizza Night
Always a firm favourite, our first night in the church this session gave us the opportunity to meet new members and outline the programme up to Christmas. We are also looking to let S2 and above have more independence in what they do within the group.

Saturday 4 October
Salsa Night
“Absolute Salsa” dance instructors Chris and Geri came along to give us a Salsa lesson – it was a night that everyone will remember. They had us all up dancing and moving to the Salsa beat. Even those rhythmically challenged managed to get down and Salsa! It fairly drums up a sweat and proves to be a good form of exercise. It was great fun and something a wee bit different!
Saturday 8 November
“A Night at the Museum” –
The SNC would like to thank Joyce Brown, Curator of Low Parks Museum, for giving up her Saturday night to specially open up to allow the group to experience “A Night at the Museum”. Unfortunately, unlike the movie, there was neither a flying dinosaur nor a woolly mammoth in sight. Troublesome monkeys – well that’s a secret! Joyce interestingly gave a guided tour around the museum informing the group about the museum building itself; life in Hamilton in the past; the history of the Hamilton family and their renowned palace, as well as kindly answering the many questions posed by the group.
Thanks also go to David Stark who came along to play his bag-pipes and give a brief historical overview of the Cameronian Regiment.
More information on Low Parks Museum can be found on the South Lanarkshire Council website – but it is well worth a visit!

Aladdin
Hamilton Youth Theatre
17 of our group had a fantastic evening at Hamilton Youth Theatres production of Aladdin…oh yes we did! There was a great atmosphere as it was the closing night and the cast responded to a full house.
The SNC is for Primary 6 to Secondary 4 young people in St Johns church and their guests.
