Harvest Appeal
This year, due to the restrictions placed upon us due to Coronavirus, instead of donating money in an envelope that comes to the church and that we then send as a lump sum to the selected harvest charity, we are asking you to donate directly to our Harvest Charity. This year the selected charity is the Christian Aid Coronavirus Emergency Appeal. The ways in which you can donate to this appeal are detailed below.

If you would like to, and there is no obligation to do so, please email the office (office@stjohnshamilton.org.uk) with the amount donated and we will keep a running total so that we can announce on Harvest Sunday the amount that we as a congregation have donated to our harvest appeal this year. There will be NO record kept of the  individual donations and only Claire, our church secretary and gift aid convenor, will see the amounts that individuals have donated.

Saturday 12th September 2020 – 50th Anniversary Rose Planting

This request was initially sent out to the families that attend Messy Church to allow them the opportunity to be involved in our Church Community

50th Anniversary Rose Planting

This month we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of the St John’s Church Centre. To mark the occasion, we are going to be planting 3 Golden Moment Roses in the church grounds on Saturday 12th September, and we would love your involvement with this.

We have split the planting process into three stages to give three different tasks.  Each stage of planting has space for three families to attend at the one time and work on the same task but on a different rose bush.

The morning shall be split as follows:

Slot 1: 10.30 – 11.00 Preparing the ground

Slot 2: 11.15 – 11.45 Dig the hole and water the ground

Slot 3: 12.00 – 12.30 Plant the rose and water

There are now 3 slots available – one at 10.30 – 11.00 to prepare the ground for a rose bush and two at 11.15 – 11.45 to dig the holes and water the ground. If you are interested could you contact me and let me know which slot you would like and also how many in your family will be attending so we can plan safely and keep within government guidelines for meetings outdoors. This will be a first come first served basis so please get in quickly! We will have some gardening tools available but if you have your own please bring them along. Slot 1 would need a gardening fork and slot 2 and 3 would need spades and watering cans. We will have disposable gloves available if we are needing to share tools.

Please bear in mind that there will be no access to the building and the church car park will not be open so if coming by car please use the multi-storey car park and walk from there for the start of your slot time.

We are going to be filming the planting of the roses so it can be the ‘Story of the Week’ at our 50th anniversary zoom service on Sunday 20th September at 10.45am. The service involves a secure community on zoom and the video will be shared in that live moment. Details for joining the zoom service are available by contacting the Church Office.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 12th – wellies and waterproofs if the weather works against us 😊
