The Minicubs are essentially a St John's Church organisation formed in 1968 to cater for boys aged 6 to 7 years. The Minicubs are not affiliated to the Scout Association but on attaining the age of 8 years the majority of boys graduate into the Cub Scouts at St Johns. Meetings take place in the Centenary Hall every Friday evening and sessions run from the first week in September until the second week of June each year.
These meetings are largely fun nights with competitive games generating a genuine team spirit among the boys who are divided into six teams: Fox; Badger; Otter; Squirrel; Roedeer and Wolf). Twice per session a trophy is awarded to the best team in terms of attendance, team performance...and behaviour!
Events such as the Christmas party, an outing to a pantomime in Glasgow and an end of session party night add greatly to the overall enjoyment within the organisation.
