Sunday 18th March

10.45 a.m. Morning Worship

 5.15 p.m. Food for Thought. Lent discussion group continues. We will have something to eat together as we discuss Lent material until 6.15 p.m. People are welcome to stay for the evening service if they wish or just attend Food for Thought.

 6.30 p.m. Evening Service – A Magowan & B Anderson  will be on door duty.

Pupils from St John’s Primary, Right Respecting Schools Committee, will be joining us at our evening service on 18th March to tell us about the work they have been doing in accordance with the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development (that we have been looking at in our Lent Group and Lent Evening Worship). They will seek to challenge us on how we might be able to work together in the future.  Hopefully this worship event will be well supported by our own congregation (in this Year of Young People) to encourage the pupils in their endeavours, to foster new working relationships between St John’s Parish Church and St John’s Primary School, and to allow us to be inspired into action by their example.

Monday 19th March
7.30 p.m. Guild Meeting. This week we will be joined by Rebecca Tennant from Crossreach.

Tuesday 20th March
1.30 p.m. Friendly Hour This week we will again be entertained by pupils from Woodside School. Tea and coffee will be served as usual. All welcome.

7.30 p.m. SALT Bible Study Group meets in the Millennium Room

Wednesday 21st March
7.30 p.m. St John’s Fellowship. Please come along this week when our speaker will be the Rev. Hannah Rankine. Refreshments will be served, all welcome.

Thursday 22nd March
10.30 a.m. Bible Study Group  This group meets weekly, please come along and join us.

12.15 p.m. Midweek Service in the Church Sanctuary. The service will last 15-30 mins, everyone is welcome to come along.

Saturday 24th March
10.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. Messy Easter. All children must come with an adult. If you are able to join us please confirm by email.

Sunday 25th – March Palm Sunday
10.45 a.m. Morning Worship followed by Annual Business Meeting

6.30 p.m. Hamilton Churches Together. Songs of Praise in Cadzow Parish Church.

Holy Week at St John’s 2018 

Monday 26th – Thursday 29th March at 12.00 Noon
Holy Week Worship :
Once you know the M.O.”  A short daily worship exploring the impact of each day’s events as Jesus approaches Golgotha.

Friday 30th March
12.00 – 3.00 p.m. Good Friday Vigil.  
A 3 hour vigil with reflection on the hour and half hour, ending with the sharing of bread and wine.

Easter Sunday 1st April

6.30 a.m. Hamilton Old Parish Church

6.30 a.m. Outside Chatelherault Lodge (with Joanne conducting worship)
Both these services are followed by breakfast rolls at Hamilton Old Parish Church Halls

9.30 a.m.  “Early in the garden..”   Worship for all ages together in the garden (weather permitting) with family celebration of the Lord’s Supper

10.45 a.m. Easter Sunday Worship More traditional worship with the choir, sermon and celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

Obituary – Mrs Helen Bannister

With sadness we announce the death on 2nd March of a member of our congregation, Mrs Helen Bannister of Bothwell.  Funeral service will be held on Monday 12th March, 2.00 p.m. at South Lanarkshire Crematorium.

Book Corner – Easter cards are now in stock.  We also have St John’s pens with a stylus on top for sale at 80p each.

5.15 p.m Food for Thought  Lent discussion group.  We will have something to eat together as we discuss Lent material until 6.15 p.m.  People are welcome to stay for the evening service if they wish or just attend Food for Thought.  Sign up sheet for those planning to attend will be in the Forum, simply to help with catering.

6.30 p.m Evening Service  E & M Soutter will welcome at the church doorway.

1.00 p.m. Guild Committee will meet in the Clyde Room.

Tuesday 13th March

1.30 p.m. Friendly Hour – We will be joined by a speaker who will tell us about Crossreach.  Tea and coffee will be served as usual, all welcome.

7.30 p.m. SALT Bible Study Group meets in the Millennium Room.

7.00 p.m. Kirk Session meets (Finance & Accounts)

Thursday 15th March

 10.30 a.m. Bible Study Group This group meets weekly, please come along and join us.

12.15 p.m. Midweek Service in the Church Sanctuary.  The service will last about 15-30 minutes, everyone is welcome to come along.

 Saturday 17th March

St John’s Gift Day – reference is made to this in the March Church magazine under Session News.  Money raised will be split between St John’s Fabric Fund and Path of Renewal.  Envelopes will be provided with that magazine and will also be available at Church doors and in the Centre from now on.  Your support will be greatly appreciated and please remember to Gift Aid your contribution if you are entitled to do so.
