Adventures of a Fire Officer.  Please come along and join us.

World Aids Day 2015: This year to mark World Aids Day St John’s Parish Church will be floodlit in red.  This is an initiative that has been running for a few years in Scotland to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS.  This will be the first year that a building in Hamilton has been lit up in red for this event.

Red Ribbon Reflections: A worship event at 7pm to mark World Aids Day 2015

Wednesday 2nd December  

Hamilton Presbyterial Council invites you to their Carol Service to be held in the Church 2-3pm.

Thursday 3rd December

Bible Study this morning at 10.30am, everyone is most welcome.

Midweek service, at 12:15pm in the Church sanctuary. The service will last about 15-30 minutes, so please come along and invite a friend.

Morning Worship and Christmas Gift Service at 10.45am.  Gifts of toys will      be received for distribution to needy children in the Hamilton area.

            Avonbridge Care Home:  monthly service at the home 2.00pm.  All welcome.

            No Evening Service as a United Communion Service is being held at

Cadzow Parish Church at 6.30pm.

Wednesday 9th December: 

Care in the Congregation – Please note that we will meet in the Millennium Room at 9.30am, to wrap the Christmas Gifts for the Senior and Special Needs           members.  We are again appealing for help to distribute the gifts.  Last year we            had a good response to our request for volunteers, but more would be very welcome.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.  Gifts can be uplifted from

Week Commencing Sunday 22nd November

 Sunday 22nd November:        

            Morning Worship at 10.45am will be led by Rev Norman McKee as            Joanne will be preaching at Hamilton Old Parish Church.
Evening Service: There will be no Evening Service today. 

            Shoe box appeal – The shoe boxes will be uplifted after morning worship            so all boxes must be received by then.  Leaflets advising what to do are available from both church doors and also in the Forum.

Bereavement Service at 3.00pm in the Church.  This service is for anyone who has lost a loved one or experienced a loss of any kind, either recently or sometime in the past, and would like to attend worship which may allow them to acknowledge or express their feelings of grief.      

There will be no Evening Service this week.  For those going to Longniddry Parish Church the bus will leave at 5pm.

No Youth Group meeting tonight.

Elders – Anyone who has not already done so can collect their Communion  material from the office today.    It is also to be noted that Freewill Offering envelopes for distribution will be available next Sunday and can be uplifted from the Office. 

The Assembly Arrangements Committee of the Church of Scotland are

auditioning and interviewing three candidates for the job of Precentor to the General Assembly. In order to do this a group of over fifty people is required on the afternoon of 28th November from 3.30-5.30pm in St John’s Church where the auditions/interviews are taking place. This group will be taught two tunes by each candidate.  A tea/coffee break is included between 4.30pm and 5pm. Please add your name to the list in the Forum if you know you are able to come along or simply turn up on the day.  We need to know we have at least fifty people.  Please bring as many people as possible.  This is not a choir so those who attend don’t have to be “good” singers, they just need to be WILLING singers! 

Tuesday 24th November  

Friendly Hour – Today at 2.00pm when we will be joined by the Minister of Trinity Parish Church. Tea & coffee will be served, so please come along and join us.

SALT Bible Study will take place at 7.30pm.  All welcome. 

Thursday 26th November

10.30am-12.30pm for all children Prams to P7.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

            First Sunday in Advent – Service with celebration of Holy Communion at 10.45am led by Rev Joanne Hood.

Services at 10.45am & 6.30pm will be led by Rev Joanne Hood. 

Messy Church A planning meeting will be held immediately after the service in the Church to sort the plans for Messy Christmas which will be on Saturday 28th November from 10.30am-12.30pm.

Centre Magazine – all material for the next issue must be with the editor today at the latest.  Please note that this issue will cover both December and January. 

Elders – Communion material is available from the office.  

Monday 16th November 

Guild:  Meeting tonight at 7.30pm, when our speaker will be Miss S Harvey telling us about her Sri-Lanka Work Experience.

Tuesday 17th November  

Friendly Hour – No meeting this week due to our outing

Wednesday 18th November 

St John’s Fellowship:  will meet in the Clyde Room at 7.30pm when George Duncan will present an illustrated talk ‘Travels of a Fire Officer in the Middle East’.

The Ordination and Induction of Ross Blackman will take place at Hamilton Old Parish Church at 7.00pm.  The small church car park off Strathmore Road will be reserved for the exclusive use of Rev Blackman, and officiating clergy.  Parking will not be permitted within the church grounds or around the church.  South Lanarkshire Council have very kindly agreed to provide their car park at the rear of the Q&A offices at the corner of Brandon Street and Leechlee Road free of charge on the night and entry can gained via the traffic lights opposite the bus station on Brandon Street.  Due to the normal weekly events here at St John’s on a Thursday evening please do not use our Car Park.
